Eugene L. Boe will engage with the essence of pietistic worship when he discusses
"Pietism and the Sacraments in the Christian Life". He will describe the understanding
of Baptism and the Lord's Supper and their place in the Christian life as presented in the Explanations of Luther's Small Catechism by Philip Jacob Spener (1677) and Erik
Pontoppidan (1737). He will then trace the influence of these teachings in the pietistic
movements.

Dr Boe, Academic Dean and Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology at Lutheran
Brethren Seminary, Fergus Falls, MN, earned a PhD in theology from Concordia Seminary,
St Louis, MO, then pursued additional study in the U.S., Norway, Germany, and Israel. He
also serves as pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wendell, MN.
